STAFF AUDITOR, INTERNAL AUDIT DEPARTMENT

CORE FUNCTION:

  • This position is responsible for performing operational and technical audits and reviews within the Internal Audit function of the Bank.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute audit programs designed to achieve engagement objectives and contribute to improved governance, risk management and control processes.
  • Review systems, processes, procedures, reports, transactions, and other information to assess reliability, accuracy, completeness, adequacy, and effectiveness.
  • Conduct assurance testing to assess whether governance, risk management and control processes are operating as intended and in compliance with applicable policies procedures and regulations.
  • Conduct interviews of responsible officials and staff of the Bank as needed to gain an overall understanding of systems, processes, procedures, reports and transactions. Identify obtain, analyze and evaluate relevant information to support audit conclusions and results.
  • Exercise critical thinking through the application of data collection, data mining, data analysis and statistical techniques.
  • Present findings and propose recommendations that deal with the root cause of issues and their impact on the organization.
  • Document procedures performed and prepare reports of findings.
  • Ensure compliance with the Internal Audit Department’s standards.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Internal Audit principles, practices and techniques, and concepts of Governance, Risk Management, Internal Control, and Compliance
  • An understanding of a Bank’s operations across the various business areas;
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s policies and procedures;
  • Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision. Demonstrate commitment to professional growth and career progression through proactively pursuing relevant education and training.
  • Fully competent in PC applications (MS Office suite of applications, in particular, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access; and the ability to quickly learn relevant and potentially complex applications is required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications & Training

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related subject or completion of Level 2 ACCA or Level 4 CGA
  2. Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), ACCA, CGA would be an asset.
  3. At least two (2) years’ relevant audit or banking experience.
