Competition Criteria
A kitchen garden is defined as a garden or area where vegetables, herbs or fruit are grown for everyday use in the kitchen.
- Your garden MUST be a kitchen garden, with the majority of plants being edible.
- Your kitchen garden can be in your front or back yard, or plants in pots and containers.
- Organic inputs such as animal manure, compost, or mulch must be utilised.
Judging Criteria
The following criteria will be used to judge the gardens:
- Methods for collecting and storing water.
- The varieties of plants that are in the garden.
- Methods used for fertilising the soil.
- Health of the plants.
- Innovative pest management techniques.
- Garden layout & colour.
